Doge Labs was a 2023–2026 infrastructure group around Dogecoin inscriptions: a genesis-height indexer, a browser wallet, an inscripter, a PSDT marketplace path, and the Labradoges identity set. On 26 February 2026 the public account @verydogelabs announced a wind-down of active operations — platform, indexer, and wallet services — with the then-current frontend to remain available through 5 March 2026. This page is the record of what they shipped and what is left. It is not a product page.
What Doge Labs was
In the 2023 season, Doge Labs treated Doginals as a product suite rather than a GitHub README. Their public claim was specific: an indexer that begins at Dogecoin genesis / Shibescription #0, a Chrome (and later Firefox) wallet that carried both image Doginals and DRC-20, an inscripter for images, text, tokens, and Dogemaps, and a marketplace path using partially signed Dogecoin transactions because Taproot was not available to copy from Bitcoin. The X account @verydogelabs joined in May 2023. The GitHub organization of the same name was created 11 May 2023.
Apezord wrote the envelope. Doge Labs did not. What they shipped was interpretation and UX: a block-0 indexer argument, a wallet, a market UI, and a collection face (Labradoges). Those are historically important. They are not protocol ownership.
Historical placement
February 2023 is the apezord-era tooling. Doge Labs’ public infrastructure wave sits after that, through the rest of 2023: wallet, marketplace, genesis indexer, inscripter, launchpad copy, Medium recaps of the DRC-20 landscape, and Labradoges as an identity set recast from Unleashed Doginals. Reddit AMAs in late 2023 are contemporaneous, not folklore.
Their GitBook still describes that suite in the present tense: “the primary infrastructure provider,” “the only indexer that begins from the Dogecoin Genesis block,” “Get the wallet for Chrome or Firefox,” “Start your Doginals journey today on drc-20.org.” As of 17 September 2026 that GitBook is leftover documentation. Present tense in a 2023 handbook is not a live operations claim.
What they shipped
- Genesis / Shibescription #0 indexer: they argued that honest numbering must start at Dogecoin genesis because of random early subsidies. Other wallets started in May 2023. That split still explains why two DOGI histories exist.
- Wallet: a browser extension described as able to send, receive, and store DOGE, image Doginals, and DRC-20. Installation was offered as a Chrome/Firefox path and, at times, a local build from the verydogelabs/dogelabs-wallet repository.
- Inscripter: image zip uploads, text, DRC-20 deploy/mint/transfer, and Dogemaps (signal, multiple, or sequential).
- Marketplace: they claimed a first automated DRC-20 and Doginal market by solving PSBT on Dogecoin without Taproot. The public host they pointed at is retired as of this review; this encyclopedia does not send readers there.
- Launchpad copy and Labradoges: a 420-piece identity collection used as the house face of that season. A 10,000 count for this set is false.
When Doge Labs said other indexers “ignore all transactions prior to” mid-May 2023, that was a claim about those programs’ start height. Readers still had to verify against the software they actually used. The same rule applies now that the house is wound down: leftover docs are not a running indexer.
What they gave the ecosystem
Send the house off with the work on the record. Doge Labs made DRC-20 teachable: deploy, mint, transfer tables, content-type rules, and indexer warnings that a season of markets treated as a contract. They argued for numbering from genesis / Shibescription #0. They shipped a browser wallet that showed pictures and ticks together, a peer-to-peer market without Taproot, an inscripter, and Labradoges as a house face. That is a real 2023 contribution. It is not protocol ownership, and it is not a living product.
The public hostname they used for that market and those teaching docs is retired. As of 17 September 2026 it permanently redirects to an unrelated third-party site. The former docs subdomain does not serve a usable spec. This encyclopedia does not cite that host, leftover GitBook, or 2023 Medium recaps. Honor the 2023 work on this page. Do not follow old bookmarks into a market that is gone.

26 February 2026 wind-down
On 26 February 2026, @verydogelabs posted that recent market conditions had led the team to reevaluate focus and that they would be winding down active operations “for the time being.” The notice named three surfaces: the Doge Labs platform, the indexer, and wallet services. It said assets remained accessible with seed phrase or private key; the then-current frontend would remain available through 5 March 2026; after that date, seed-phrase restore was the stated method. It asked readers to confirm they still held their seed.

The same notice listed what they were proud of in the past tense of a closing letter: a first Ordinals-style standard on Dogecoin (their wording), an automated peer-to-peer marketplace, an ordinal-theory-compliant Doginals indexer, a PSBT path on Doge, and work toward Dogecoin’s primary Ord. That is their self-accounting. This encyclopedia records the announcement. It does not convert the list into unsourced superlatives.
As of 17 September 2026: the GitHub organization still exists and still points its blog field at the retired market hostname, which no longer resolves to a Doge Labs market. Public repository count is zero. The GitBook remains reachable as leftover copy. The X account remains the public voice of record for the wind-down. This site does not instruct readers to install a historical extension or to import a seed into unknown software.
Continuity and caveats
Indexer notebooks die when the process that wrote them stops. A wound-down Doge Labs indexer is not a guarantee that a 2023 balance still displays in some other wallet. Inscriptions remain bytes on UTXOs. Ownership displays depend on whoever still indexes. Markets that used that notebook were best-effort views. After 5 March 2026, the team’s own notice said the frontend was no longer the access path.
If a cached UI still shows a Labradoge or a DRC-20 balance from that era, treat the image as a cache. The coin is the UTXO. Phishing against “restore your Doge Labs wallet” is an expected aftershock of a wind-down. Verify destinations. This is not advice to move funds; it is a record of how those products ended.
