Gold coins in a museum case

A shibe is to Doginals what a satoshi is to Ordinals: the unit you bother to number. Monetarily it is the same grain as a koinu (1 DOGE = 100,000,000). Conceptually it is an object with a first-seen history. Inscriptions cling to that history as the UTXO moves.

Three names, one grain

Call it koinu if you are speaking of value. Call it shibe if you are speaking of identity. Call it elon only when quoting indexer notes about early subsidies — the word leaked into DRC-20 documentation and should not be allowed to wander. The glossary keeps the leash short.
